Depends on what it’s on. I had a psych paper that I basically had to reference trade journals for and it took me a LONG time, part of the reason I might not minor in psych, the papers are so damn boring. However, I’ve done papers on other subjects like science and history that just required books or articles that are readily available and it took me far less time. Fifteen should be a good estimate, but if you want my advice do it sooner rather than later.

I have one due Friday and another due next Wednesday, with a four-pager in inbetween, very likely due Tuesday (but I haven’t gotten the prompt or deadline yet). Once I finish reading all my sources, it’ll most likely take two hours for a coherent, detailed outline including my thesis statement, topic sentences for each figure paragraph, bullet points of the points in each of my paragraphs, and transitions inbetween paragraphs, so I know how the paper will flow. Then I just have to pack in the bod paragraphs with the information from my sources more or less. The actual writing after the two hours of outlining can be from six to twenty hours, depending on how many re-reads I have. But having an outline very first generally solves the problem of having to reorganize too much. Gonna be a long week and a half tho’. *breathe*

The maximum I wrote was six pages and it was double-spaced but it can be dreadful if you don’t have a clear thesis and supporting evidence. In your case, you would need a lot of detail.

Truth be told, it’s not as horrifying as everyone makes it out to be. A ten page essay can be effortless if you put the time and effort in your essay which is true for almost everything out there. When I wrote my essay for my history class in high school, it was dreadful because it was somewhat last minute and the evidence was shaky when attempting to support my thesis which the thesis itself was exceptionally difficult to support. Fortunately my history teacher went effortless on me because of the difficulty of my topic.

Another essay I wrote was writing about I Am Legend which wasn’t hard because I liked the book, I understood the main theme, and I could back it up with evidence. It was the easiest six pages I ever wrote.

The most I have written in a single sitting was 14 pages dual spaced. Usually speaking, however, the types of papers I have to write require a lot more research than can be done within a brief span of time. For example, one 30 page paper written during my undergrad took a month for me to write as I read several books in entirity and about 15 books partially in order to comprehend the complexities of the subject.

I don’t think I’ve ever written a Ten page paper.

gameguy6700 Goddamn science majors.

I was a neuroscience major and I had a neuro class that required a 15-20 page term paper (I wrote Eighteen pages IIRC). My honors thesis also clocked out at around 90 pages. While it’s true that science majors don’t write almost as much as humanities majors, it takes a lot more time to write one page of a science paper than it does to write one page of a humanities paper.

I’d say the writing is firmer in humanities since we can’t spend several sections talking about how we collected data, what data we collected etc. We read, and then we write. and we have to be careful with every single word we use.

And in my case attempt to not speak of my subject in such a way as to cause my professor to think me a heretic. P

Ten pages isnt a entire lot for a science paper what with figures and all that crap in there. but if its only taking 15 hours for you to write a RESEARCH paper im wondering what the hell kind of research was actually accomplished.

my senior design project outlined a manned mission to a near earth object. that clocked in around 60-70 pages. and was reviewed by a NASA board as part of a design competition. every single word of it was ripped apart. so yes. even science majors have to be careful with every single word used.

And in my case attempt to not speak of my subject in such a way as to cause my professor to think me a heretic. P mindstorm Haha, with college it’s pretty much the opposite. The religion department loveshermeneutics of suspicion, religious pluralism, etc.
